Mau: A Forest Imaginarium — Kairos Futura
An exhibition imagining the Mau Forest.

About the event
Mau: A Forest Imaginarium is an exhibition by Kairos Futura, a Nairobi arts collective that works on ecological futures. It asks what happens when young people reimagine a forest, and shows speculative artworks, installations, wearables, drawings, sound pieces and objects made through the collective's Safari Studio in the Mau Forest with young artists and makers from communities living alongside it.
The work builds on two years of research in the Southwest Mau by UK researcher Niall Readfern, who used walking interviews, body mapping and soundscape recordings, as part of the British Council's UK/Kenya Legacy Programme. The exhibition imagines 'Mau 2099', a future where forests are worth more than cities and their caretakers are inventors, designers and keepers of knowledge.
The free opening night on 17 October (5–9pm) requires an RSVP and capacity is limited; the show then runs until 15 November.
